Helping nonprofits turn strategy into action

So great ideas become lasting impact for the people you serve

Strategic planning, revenue growth, board development, and execution support tailored to your organization

The Problem

Most nonprofit leaders don't struggle with vision. They know exactly what they want to accomplish for their communities.

The challenge is finding the time, alignment, and systems to make that vision a reality. Often, nonprofits have:

  • Too many priorities

  • Plans that don’t translate into action

  • Misaligned teams

  • No clear way to track progress

The result? Dedicated teams working incredibly hard—but without the clarity, alignment, and capacity to fully deliver on the mission they care so deeply about.

You don't need another consultant to hand you a plan. You need a partner who understands your organization, meets you where you are, and helps turn your biggest priorities into meaningful progress.

The Difference

This is not traditional strategy consulting.

Every organization has its own story, strengths, culture, and challenges. That's why I don't bring a one-size-fits-all process.

I start by understanding where you are today, what matters most to your team, and where you're trying to go. Together, we build practical systems that fit your organization.

That means:

  • Shared priorities everyone understands

  • Simple systems your team will actually use

  • Clear roles and accountability

Because great strategy isn't just about having a plan. It's about helping your people move forward together with clarity and shared purpose.

How I Work

Every engagement is designed around your organization's unique goals, culture, and capacity. Together, we'll build an approach that fits where you are today—and helps you get where you want to go.

Whether you need:

  • A reset

  • A strategic plan

  • Ongoing support

My role isn't to hand you another binder. Each engagement starts with listening—understanding your people, your culture, and what success looks like for your organization. From there, we build the clarity and structure that create lasting momentum.

Listen → Align → Plan → Execute → Grow

Who I Work With

I work with small to mid-sized nonprofits navigating growth, complexity, or transition—including organizations in networked systems like United Ways.

Whether you're leading a strategic planning process, preparing for organizational change, strengthening your board, or navigating a merger, I help build practical systems that fit your organization's culture, goals, and capacity.

Because when leaders have the right structure and support, they can spend less time managing challenges and more time moving their mission forward.

Meet Courtney

Every nonprofit has more great ideas than time, staff, or resources.

After spending more than 14 years inside nonprofit organizations—including serving in nearly every role along the way—I know what it's like to juggle competing priorities, limited capacity, and the constant pressure to do more with less to make a difference in our mission areas.

That's why I started Yeager Strategy.

Some of my favorite moments as a nonprofit leader have been the conversations with other CEOs who simply wanted to think through a challenge together. I believe nonprofit leaders shouldn't have to figure everything out alone, and I'm passionate about sharing what I've learned to help organizations make the most of the people and resources they already have.

Because when organizations execute well, they spend less time putting out fires—and more time advancing their mission and changing lives.

  • Proof of Impact

"I’ve had the distinct honor and pleasure to have known Courtney since soon after she started her role as CEO at United Way of Kennebec Valley when I was the United Way Worldwide engagement director for the Northeast Region supporting her efforts. Courtney has continually exhibited strong leadership and a keen understanding for how United Ways and other nonprofits can best thrive in these challenging times. I’ve seen her strategic planning put into play, resulting in consistent public support that continues to provide important resources to the communities within Kennebec Valley.

Additionally, Courtney has been a steady and reliable professional working in concert with and even leading her colleagues within the other Maine United Ways toward shared goals and accomplishments. What impresses me most about Courtney is her tremendous ability to develop growth-oriented strategy and objectives and then putting those plans into action. She possesses that relentless curiosity that drives her toward success…all of the time!"

John Emge, Senior Director, Northeast & Southeast Regions, United Way Worldwide

  • Proof of Impact

"I have had the pleasure and privilege of knowing and working with Courtney Yeager over the past decade: as a community member, as a board member of a United Way nonprofit partner agency, and as a volunteer for other community projects supported by the United Way. Her vision, organization, and strategic planning skills are impressive. Her commitment, heart, and ability to unite staff, board and community members into productive partnerships is inspirational.

Courtney’s expertise and experience have also been a resource when our agency, a nonprofit dental center, has been faced with organizational challenges. Discussions with her around questions related to board governance and strategic planning have helped to widen our perspective, identify potential new community resources, and better define our approach to actions needed for change. We are grateful for the support Courtney was able to provide for us.  Her unique combination of skills would provide a strong resource for any nonprofit facing similar challenges.
